Accessibility Statement

Last updated: January 11, 2026

Our Commitment to Accessibility

InterpretReflect is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to ensure we provide equal access to all users.

As a platform serving the interpreter community—professionals who bridge communication gaps for Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals—we recognize the paramount importance of accessible design. Our commitment to accessibility reflects the values at the core of the interpreting profession.

Conformance Status

InterpretReflect strives to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone.

Current status: We are actively working toward full WCAG 2.1 AA compliance. Our codebase includes many accessibility features, but we have not yet completed comprehensive third-party accessibility testing.

We conduct internal accessibility reviews and are committed to addressing issues as they are identified. If you encounter barriers, please contact us so we can prioritize fixes.

Accessibility Features

InterpretReflect includes the following accessibility features:

Keyboard Navigation

  • All interactive elements are keyboard accessible
  • Visible focus indicators on all focusable elements
  • Logical tab order throughout the application
  • Skip navigation links for screen reader users

Visual Design

  • Color contrast ratios meet WCAG AA standards (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
  • Information is not conveyed by color alone
  • Responsive design supports zoom up to 200% without loss of functionality
  • Text can be resized without assistive technology

Screen Reader Support

  • Semantic HTML structure with appropriate heading hierarchy
  • ARIA labels used throughout interactive components
  • Decorative images marked as such; meaningful images include alt text
  • Form labels associated with inputs via htmlFor attributes
  • Toast notifications and form errors use ARIA live regions

Forms and Inputs

  • Clear labels for all form fields
  • Error messages identify the field and describe the error
  • Sufficient time to complete forms without timeout
  • Input purpose attributes for autofill support

Motion and Animation

  • Respects user preference for reduced motion
  • No content flashes more than three times per second
  • Animations can be paused or stopped

Compatibility with Assistive Technologies

InterpretReflect is designed to work with common assistive technologies:

  • Keyboard-only navigation - Fully supported with visible focus indicators
  • Screen magnification - Responsive design supports zoom up to 200%
  • Screen readers - Built with semantic HTML and ARIA; we welcome feedback on specific screen reader compatibility

Note: We have not yet completed formal testing with all assistive technologies. If you experience issues with a specific tool, please let us know.

Known Limitations

While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, we are aware of the following limitations:

  • AI companion (Elya): Our conversational AI interface may have limited screen reader compatibility. The chat interface uses live regions for updates, but complex interactions may be challenging. We are actively improving this experience.
  • Third-party content: Embedded third-party services (Stripe payments, video players) may not fully meet accessibility standards. We work with our vendors to improve accessibility.
  • PDF certificates: Generated PDF certificates may have limited accessibility features. Please contact us if you need an alternative format for your CEU documentation.
  • Dynamic content: Some dynamically loaded content may not be fully announced by screen readers. We use ARIA live regions for critical updates like toasts and form errors, but coverage is not yet comprehensive.
  • Complex data visualizations: Charts and graphs may not have full text alternatives. We are working to add accessible data tables alongside visual representations.
